Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko popularly known as OV  is one of Ghana’s most talented female artiste, guitarists, and dancers.  The multi-talented female artiste is also known for winning the MTN Hitmaker season 7 crown editions in 2018. She was awarded accordingly due to her unique music and dancing skills.

Most of her fans were eager and ecstatic to see how the star was going to take the country to another level, of which she did not disappoint. As a result, her popularity increased in and out of the country for being the second female, after Freda Rhymes, to win the MTN Hitmaker.

Original version (OV ) was born on the 4th day of December 1998 and an alumnus of Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. While in high school, she was nicknamed “skelebarbs” by her schoolmates and the public because of her unique dancing skills. She has been rewarded with several certificates for being the best dancer in high school. Immediately after finishing high school studies, she decided to concentrate on her career as a musician.

For the whole time she has been in the music industry, everyone knows that her name means Okailey Verse. She revealed that Okailey is from her birth name, Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko, and Verse is related to her musical talent. However, in an interview conducted by Kuulpeep.com in 2020, OV revealed that she has changed her name form Okailey Verse to Original Version. This is because the name Original has been part of her for long. She said: I have always been Orijay. I was Okailey Verse in Hitmaker but now…this is me. This is the Original Version. The name has been there, but now, I am living it.

The artist’s age is one of the most important things that her fans wish to know. She will be turning 22 in December 2020. Okailey Verse is a young, passionate, and energetic celebrity who is very determined to be successful in her career.

OV’S Career


Her career path came clear when she was very young. Since childhood, OV wanted to play the guitar. However, she started as a dancer and also a singer at school. After completing high school education, she practiced acoustic guitar for about two years. Before writing her songs, she did a few songs covers by renowned artists such as Kaumi Eugenes Angela. She recorded her first single Nea Woyeyi which featured a producer and multi-instrumentalist, Reynolds, who saw the song on her Instagram handle. After the release, Okailey used to perform the song in various places such as high school events, Serallio and Piano Bar before releasing her second song.

On December 4, 2017, the young guitarist released her second song Kambu. The song played a critical part in increasing her popularity in various tertiary institutions. In 2018, she released her third song dubbed, Ma Mind Dey, and it featured Reggae act Epixode/Dancehall. She has also made a soul version of Stonebwoy’s Gbedegbede and Tomorrow songs. As a result, she drew Stonebwoy’s attention. She participated and won the MTN Hitmaker season 7 editions in 2018. This impressed Stonebwoy, and he congratulated her on his Tweeter handle. Dating life

Is Okailey Verse dating? Yes. In an interview on Hitz FM, she revealed that her boyfriend lives in Germany. She also said that he supports her in terms of finances and payers. OV said: My boyfriend supports my work with prayers and some coins. Also, the former MTN Hitmaker winner added that her love partner owns a restaurant in Germany.
