Fast-rising Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, and recording artist joseph Akinfenwa Donus popularly known as Joeboy was born on 21st May 1997 in Lagos State, Nigeria. His genre of music is that of Afro-pop and R&B. Joeboy studied at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
Joeboy grew up in a musical family; his older brother was in the choir and his dad played the keyboard in church. He was inspired by the likes of 9ice and ID Cabasa whom he used to hang out with in studio.
Joeboy Music Career
Joeboy started singing at a very tender age of 16 years and officially recorded his first song “Gbeseyin”, an afrofusion tune when he turned 17 years old. However, it was his cover of Ed Sheeran, “Shape of You” that gave him the spotlight which made Mr Eazi discovered him and decided to offer him a provisional mentorship.
